Enhancements Made to TotalChoice Voluntary Benefits Program

Over the past few months ADP TotalSource® and Mercer Health & Benefits LLC have worked diligently to deliver a more comprehensive voluntary benefits program to you and your worksite employees. Recently, we enhanced the TotalChoice™ Voluntary Benefits program by making it easier for employees to access the TotalChoice enrollment system, consolidating carriers, designing a dedicated resource page on My TotalSource and the benefits microsite, and partnering with MetLife to add new enhanced benefits.  And, we didn’t stop there.

We are pleased to inform you that the following enhancements have been made to the TotalChoice Voluntary Benefits Program. Some of them include:

  • No more 90-day waiting period for full-time new hires, making worksite employees eligible to enroll in benefits sooner and allowing more time to make their decisions
  •  Hours worked by your part-time employees are now evaluated over their initial 60 days of employment instead of 90 days, and we will continue to evaluate their hours with each payroll to determine when they have averaged 20 hours

In addition, eligible worksite employees have until May 3, 2015 to take advantage of a special enrollment opportunity for certain offerings included in the TotalChoice program. Some of these offerings pay benefits above and beyond what their medical plan pays. Worksite employees may enroll in any or all of the following:

  • Critical Illness Insurance — Provides a lump-sum benefits payment to help cover out-of-pocket medical expenses and the costs associates with life changes following a covered critical illness.
  • Hospital Indemnity Insurance — Pays a lump-sum every day the insured is confined when experiencing a covered event.
  • Accident Insurance — Pays benefits directly to the insured if injured in a covered accident.
  • Term Life Insurance — Provides a death benefit as well as additional support, planning and protection services.
  •  Legal Services — Access to a nationwide network of attorneys, financial counselors and other valuable resources to help prevent and resolve legal matters.

Please encourage your worksite employees to take advantage of these benefits before the May 3 deadline. Employees who are offered and enrolled in voluntary benefits are more likely to feel more confident in their own knowledge about benefits, as well as feel empowered and confident about their financial preparedness.
