Final Quarter Close of 2018 is Coming!

The final quarter of 2018 will be closing on December 31, 2018. It’s that time again where you should review the following reminders and provide updates impacting your employees’ Form W-2 to your Payroll Service Representative by December 26 to help you avoid costly amendments. Christmas & New Year’s Day Bank Closure – December 25, 2018 & January 1, 2019

ADP TotalSource® would like to remind you that The Federal Reserve and ADP offices will be closed on Tuesday, December 25, 2018 and Tuesday, January 1, 2019 in observance of Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Minimum Wage Update for Various Jurisdictions

Various jurisdictions have increased their minimum wage rates. If applicable, you must increase the pay rate for exempt and/or non-exempt employees to meet the new minimum wage. For New York, the pay rate increase is effective on or before December 31, 2018. For all other jurisdictions and federal contractors, the increase is effective on or before January 1, 2019. An updated poster is not required provided that the employer has the most recent poster already on display. If needed, employers should order a new minimum wage poster. The minimum wage rate is based on the employee’s work location.

The Department of Labor (“DOL”) has rescinded its prior guidance that made the tip credit unavailable for tipped employees who spend more than 20% of their time performing allegedly non-tip generating duties.
