Reminder – Maine Employers Must Provide Sexual Harassment Policy Annually

12/05/13

Author: Shirley Johnson/Wednesday, July 9, 2014/Categories: Maine

Maine law requires employers to annually provide their employees with notice of the employer’s sexual harassment policy.  The employer’s policy must contain, for example, the definition of harassment (with examples), the employer’s internal complaint mechanism, the Maine Human Rights Commission’s complaint process, and an anti-retaliation statement.

A stand-alone copy of the Maine Non Harassment and Sexual Harassment Policies (the same policies included with our Basic Employment Policies and Handbook Product) is available on FormSource in the State Appendix section.  Clients with employees in Maine should distribute and employees should acknowledge receipt of these policies.

As always, feel free to contact your Human Resource Business Partner if you have any questions.
