California Expands Paid Sick Leave Requirement

California has enacted legislation that will expand the amount of paid sick leave to which employees are entitled, extends some protections to employees covered by a collective bargaining agreement and partially pre-empts local paid sick leave laws.  The legislation (Senate Bill 616) takes effect Jan. 1, 2024.

California - Employers May Seek Extension for Labor Contractor Pay Data Report

The California Civil Rights Department (CRD) has announced that employers may request an extension to a new requirement to submit a separate pay data report on workers hired through labor contractors. The request must be submitted by May 10, 2023.

California Updates Guidance & Resources for New Pay Data Reporting Rules

California’s Civil Rights Division (CRD) has released updated guidance and resources to reflect recent changes to the pay data reporting requirements for employers with 100 or more employees. The changes were a result of the enactment of Senate Bill 1162. ADP® is in the process of updating your payroll system to generate a fileable version of the employee pay data report. The fileable version is expected to be available in mid-April 2023.

California to adopt new COVID-19 prevention rules

We want to let you know that the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) has approved COVID-19 Prevention Non-Emergency Regulations (NER) to replace Emergency Temporary Standards (ETS).  On Feb. 3, 2023, the Office of Administrative Law (OAL) approved the new COVID-19 prevention regulations, which means that these new regulations are in effect as of Feb. 3, 2023, and will remain in effect for the next two years.
