New Student Loan Updates

ADP TotalSource is always working to keep you informed of important regularly matters and we want to be sure you’re aware that in an Aug. 24, 2022 press release, the Department Of Education (DOE) announced a final suspension of wage garnishments for student loan debts through Dec. 31, 2022. The extension is aimed at phasing out pandemic-related relief responsibly, so people do not suffer unnecessary financial harm.

California SB 1159 quarterly reminder: It's the law. What do you need to do?

As a reminder, on Sept. 17, 2020, California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed into law SB 1159, concerning workers’ compensation, the coronavirus (COVID-19) and critical workers. This new law added sections (§3212.86-3212.88) of the CA Labor Code, codifying the Executive Order signed by Gov. Newsom on May 6, 2020, and expanding the “rebuttable presumption of compensability ” for certain employees who test positive for COVID-19.

Automatic extension period for certain employment authorizations increased

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced that the automatic extension period for certain employment authorizations and employment authorization documents (EADs) has been temporarily increased from 180 days to 540 days. The extension period is provided to certain renewal applicants to help prevent gaps in employment authorization due to delays in processing.
