The National Labor Relations Board has held that, absent special circumstances that justify specific restrictions, employers must permit employees who have been provided access to their employer’s email system to use that system for statutorily protected communications on their non-working time under the National Labor Relations Act.

New-Hampshire

New Hampshire added a new posting requirement for Protective Legislation/ Equal Pay update. Effective January 1, 2015 Senate Bill 207-FN modifies provisions of law regarding pay equity between the sexes.

Washington-

Washington minimum wage was increased to $9.47 an hour beginning Jan. 1, 2015.

California

Health Care Security Ordinance (HCSO)- Health Care Expenditure Rates for 2015 are now available.

California

Effective January 1, 2015, the San Francisco minimum wage increased to $11.05 per hour.

Connecticut-

The minimum wage increased to $9.15 per hour effective January 1, 2015.

Montana-

The minimum wage increased to $8.05 per hour January 1, 2015.

Arkansas

The state's minimum wage increased to $7.50 per hour on January 1, 2015, and will increase to $8.00 per hour January 1, 2016, and $8.50 per hour on January 1, 2017.

Rhode-Island-

The minimum wage for all workers increased to $9.00 per hour effective January 1, 2015.

Missouri-

New ordinances in Columbia, Missouri, limit an employer’s ability to inquire into an applicant’s criminal history.

Massachusetts

The minimum wage increased to $9.00 an hour, effective January 1, 2015.

Washington,-D.C.

The District of Columbia Department of Employment Services has announced the Wage Theft Prevention Amendment Act will become effective on February 26, 2015.

Maryland-

New ordinances in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties, Maryland, limit an employer’s ability to inquire into an applicant’s criminal history.
