Aligning your benefits to your business goals and your worksite employees’ needs is critical to your business success. By partnering with your ADP TotalSource® Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP) during your annual Benefit Enrollment Consultation, you’ll develop a benefits strategy that works for your business and helps you attract, retain and engage your worksite employees. To make the most of your Benefit Enrollment Consultation, below is a list of what to prepare and consider before your meeting.
Nail Down Meeting Logistics
- Respond to the email or phone call from your HRBP to schedule your Benefit Enrollment Consultation meeting. The meeting is conducted either in person or virtually. Check the calendars of your company’s CEO and/or CFO (if that’s not you) to ensure they’re available for the meeting to provide input for key decisions.
- Review the CEO-to-CEO video series. These videos provide insight into key issues to consider as you think about your benefits strategy.
- Review the thought leadership articles. These articles outline the key trends that will affect benefits over the next several years.
Equip Yourself with Company-Specific Information
- Know your worksite employees’ preferences. ADP’s Benefits Satisfaction Survey, which is available free of charge, reveals employee preferences regarding benefits and communications – valuable information to shape your 2016–2017 Plan Year benefits strategy. If you’ve distributed the survey to employees, review the results report you received. To provide the survey to your worksite employees, contact your ADP TotalSource HRBP.
- Understand your business drivers. If you completed ADP’s Organizational Health Readiness Survey, then you’ve already considered your business drivers for the 2016–2017 Plan Year, and your ADP TotalSource HRBP will use your survey results to guide your decisions during the meeting.
If you have not taken the survey, consider the benefits strategy driver that best fits your company for the coming year. Is it aligning benefit decisions based on your company’s business lifecycle? Tailoring your benefits offering to your company’s specific worksite employee demographics? Or, designing a benefits package that attracts, retains and engages your key talent?

- Know your budget. Be prepared to talk about your benefits budget for the coming year. What factors are affecting your 2016–2017 benefits budget?
- Identify your approach to this year’s benefits enrollment.
- get it done. your current plans are working well and meeting your needs. you need to keep things simple and get people enrolled.
- maintain the status quo. you’ve made strategic changes over the last few years, so your plans are working well. you’re willing to consider a few small changes, but you want to keep things close to where they are.
- take a fresh look. things have changed and it’s time to make sure your benefits are keeping pace with your business and your employees.
