Oregon Requires Additional Details on Pay Statements

Oregon enacts Senate Bill 1587, which is designed to increase transparency in employee pay and expose wage and hour violations. Effective January 1, 2017, employers will be required to provide additional details on itemized pay statements.

Portland, Oregon, Issues Rules Implementing ‘Ban the Box’

The City of Portland has issued administrative rules to “Removing Barriers to Employment,” its ordinance aimed at removing job barriers for individuals with criminal records (Chapter 23.10 of the Portland Municipal Code).  The Ordinance, which took effect on July 1, 2016, prohibits criminal history inquiries and background checks until a conditional offer of employment has been made.

Oregon Enacts 3-Tiered Minimum Wage Increase

On March 2, 2016, Governor Kate Brown signed into law Senate Bill 1532 that establishes a 3- tiered system for determination of minimum wage based on geographical location of the employer.
