New Mexico has enacted legislation (House Bill 20), also known as the Healthy Workplaces Act ("the Act"), that requires employers to provide paid sick and safe leave to employees. The Act takes effect on July 1, 2022.
The City of Santa Fe, New Mexico has announced that effective March 1, 2022 the living wage rate in Santa Fe will increase from $12.32 to $12.95 per hour. All employers required to have a business license or registration from the City of Santa Fe must pay at least the living wage rate to employees for all hours worked within the Santa Fe city limits. All employees, including temporary and part-time workers, must be paid this rate.
New Mexico has enacted legislation (House Bill 29) that amends the state's Human Rights Act to prohibit hairstyle discrimination in the workplace. House Bill 29 is effective immediately.
New Mexico has enacted legislation (Senate Bill 35) that will require employers to pay high school workers at least the minimum wage per hour.
The living wage in the City and County of Santa Fe, New Mexico will increase to $12.32 per hour on March 1, 2021.
