New Tax Form Required for Nonresident Aliens

05/06/15

Author: SuperUser Account/Wednesday, May 6, 2015/Categories: North Carolina

Non-resident aliens employed by your establishment must complete a new form, the NC-4 NRA, which can be found on MyTS after May 14.

The new form will determine the proper amount of North Carolina income tax to be withheld from wages for these employees.  Please note that this applies to state income tax only, and does not affect deductions on the federal W-4 form.

If a non-resident alien does not complete the NC-4 NRA, their state tax status will need to be updated to Single with 0 exemptions with additional per pay period taxes to be setup as follows:

Weekly - $9
Biweekly - $17
Semi-Monthly - $18
Monthly - $36
