Several additional states now require employers provide the State Separation Notice to employees upon termination of employment. These documents are required by certain states in order for the employee to file for Unemployment Benefits.

Upon completing a termination for a worksite employee in one of these states, the client administrator will receive an email from ADP TotalSource. The email confirms generation of the Separation Notice and availability on the employee’s record in ADP TotalSource. Log into ADP TotalSource, navigate to People > Employment > Employee Documents and immediately print the Separation Notice.

The client administrator is responsible for providing the Separation Notice to the worksite employee as soon as possible. In compliance with state guidelines, delivery of the separation notice must occur within 24 hours to 3 days, depending upon the state.

The 15 additional states now requiring the distribution of the State Separation Notice include:

·       Alaska

·       Arkansas

·       Colorado

·       Idaho

·       Kansas

·       Kentucky

·       Minnesota

·       Mississippi

·       Montana

·       North Carolina

·       Ohio

·       South Carolina

·       Texas

·       Wisconsin

·       Wyoming
