The Virginia General Assembly has delayed a scheduled increase to the minimum wage.
Background:
Assembly Bill 395 increases Virginia's minimum wage in phases. The first scheduled increase was set to take place on January 1, 2021. However, the General Assembly has announced a delay to allow employers more time to recover from COVID-19.

With limited exceptions, the minimum wage rate will increase according to the following schedule:

Compliance Recommendations:
Beginning May 1, 2021, Virginia employers must pay all non-exempt employees at least $9.50 per hour. Virginia employers must also post an updated minimum wage notice in a conspicuous area of the workplace. Please contact your dedicated service professional with any questions.
