Author: ADP Admin/Thursday, February 4, 2021/Categories: Bulletin News

A January 20, 2021 memorandum was signed by President Biden requesting that the suspension of student loans extend past 01/31/2021 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.  To extend relief during these unprecedented times, The Department of Education (DOE) Office of Federal Student Aid has confirmed the suspension of student loan payments until September 30, 2021.  For more details, please refer to the Student Aid site.

All Federal Student Loan garnishments have been inactivated and will not withhold until the US DOE issues a new Wage Garnishment order once the suspension ends. This applies to Federal Loans only, however some state agencies & guarantors have implemented a suspension as well.

We are closely monitoring any new developments and will provide additional communication as more details become available from the DOE.

Should employees have questions they should contact the administering agency or if there are any questions about specific student loan obligations the employee currently has in place, employees can contact the My Life Advisor Team.
