Assisting with complex, variable payroll tasks is one of the many things ADP TotalSource® does as your Professional Employer Organization.
To ensure that ADP TotalSource can efficiently serve you with important deadlines which occur each payroll cycle, here are some key items to keep in mind:
If processing payroll on your designated input date …
If processing the day prior or day of pay date …
We can assist in any billing updates that may occur when adding employees to a new state.
We cannot proceed with payroll if billing setups are missing or employees have recorded wages in previous states.
We can monitor new hire setups, I9 collection and manage enrollment inquiries.
We cannot provide clear compliance reporting if proper legal documentation is missing from a new hire receiving their first payment with the company.
We can manage funding timelines, helping ensure your employees are always paid timely ‒ keeping your company in compliance.
You will need to be more involved in complex processing, which may require wired payment and remove ACH as a funding option going forward.

Avoiding late fees
Given the need for timely payroll processing, going forward, ADP TotalSource will impose a late fee in connection with untimely payroll processing.
- This fee may be imposed thirty (30) days from the send date of this email or as soon as otherwise permissible under your Client Service Agreement (CSA).
- "Client will be charged a Late Payroll Processing Fee for each payroll funded after the requisite payment deadline as set forth in Part 2, Section 2.B of the Agreement calculated as the greater of: (i) $250; or (ii) 0.25% multiplied by the value of the gross wages in the payroll processed, not to exceed $2,500.”
- These fees are subject to change.
