We have revised the Paid Family Leave Benefits provisions in the California Employee Handbook to reflect that, as of July 1, 2014, California employees may be eligible to receive Paid Family Leave benefits when taking time off work to care for a seriously ill parent-in-law, grandparent, grandchild or sibling, in addition to a child, spouse, parent or registered domestic partner.

We recommend that clients distribute and that employees acknowledge receipt of the new policy in writing. The acknowledgement should be maintained in the employee’s personnel file.

The new policy may be accessed of FormSource under the New Hire section.

Please feel free to contact your HRBP or the Human Resources Solutions Group at (866) 400-6011 Option 2 if you have any questions.
