Reminder – Maine Employers Must Provide Sexual Harassment Policy Annually

12/3/15

Maine law requires employers to annually provide their employees with notice of the employer’s sexual harassment policy.  The employer’s policy must contain, for example, the definition of harassment (with examples), the employer’s internal complaint mechanism, the Maine Human Rights Commission’s complaint process, and an anti-retaliation statement.

If you are using the most recent version of our handbook product (which contains a Maine specific sexual harassment policy) we recommend that you distribute and employees should acknowledge receipt of this policy.  A standalone copy of the policy is also available on Form Source in the state appendix.

As always, feel free to contact your Human Resource Business Partner if you have any questions.
