There have been changes to the Tennessee Workers’ Compensation Law related to the Direction of Care and Physician Panels as of July 1, 2014. In response to these changes, please note the following procedures:
- Please discard any panel that may presently be in your possession as a new panel will be generated upon the report of a claim for non-emergency care.
- In the event that an employee alleges a need for medical care, due to a work related accident, you must first determine if the need for medical care is an emergency. If the need for care is an emergency, then direct the injured employee to the nearest hospital to be evaluated and treated accordingly. When you report the claim, please advise that the employee was directed for emergency care.
- If the need for medical care is a non-emergency, then you should immediately report the claim and notify Helmsman, whose number will be given at the time the claim is reported, that the injured employee is requesting medical care so they can follow up to provide the employee with a panel of approved providers.
- Once the claim is received by the Helmsman adjuster, they will follow up with the employee to provide access to any subsequent approved panels of providers that may be necessary for follow up care.
Please make sure all employees are instructed to report an injury as soon as it occurs. The claim should then be immediately reported to ADP TotalSource Reporting Line at (800) 553-4681.
Should you have any questions regarding direction of medical care, please do not hesitate to contact the ADP TotalSource Claims Management Unit at (800) 829-9306.
We appreciate your cooperation and support in maintaining a safe workplace.
