Coming in July: One-Time Passcode will Launch

You’ve heard us talk about it. It’s almost here! In July, ADP® Comprehensive Services is rolling out One-Time Passcodes (OTPs), as an added layer of protection for you and your employees.

When you and your employees call us, a unique OTP will be sent to the mobile phone number or email address that has been activated and consented for us to use. An OTP must be entered to complete verification – or we may not be able to help you.

United States Postal Service Rule Change

The United States Postal Service (USPS) recently released an updated rule change providing clarification on the timing and manner by which mail is officially postmarked.

The rule states that the manual stamping of a postmark is not done in the ordinary course of business for retail USPS locations. This means that if you place mail in a mailbox or at a post office location and do not request a manual postmark, then the piece of mail will not receive a postmark until it arrives at a USPS processing facility.

Is Pay Required for ‘Sleep Time?’ What About ‘On-Call Time?’

The federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) requires employers to compensate non-exempt employees at least the minimum wage for each hour worked and pay them overtime (at 1.5 times the employee’s regular rate of pay) whenever they work more than 40 hours in a workweek. The amount non-exempt employees should receive in pay cannot be determined accurately without knowing the number of hours worked. Under many circumstances, time spent at a worksite is considered hours worked under the FLSA. What about when an employee sleeps at the worksite?
