Connecticut to Expand Paid Sick Leave Law

Connecticut has enacted legislation that will expand the state’s paid sick leave law to eventually cover all employers and employees and make other changes.

Currently, the state’s paid sick leave law applies to employers with 50 or more employees in the state, and only “service workers” are entitled to receive paid sick leave. The expansion will occur in phases, with the first phase effective Jan. 1, 2025.

Connecticut Extends Registration Deadline for State-Run Retirement Plan

Connecticut employers with five to 25 employees will now have until August 31, 2023 to register with the MyCTSavings program, if they don't offer a retirement plan. MyCTSavings is a state-run, payroll withholding savings program using Roth Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs).

Connecticut expands anti-discrimination law

Connecticut Increases Minimum Wage for Workers Who Care for People with Disabilities

Under a measure signed May 9 by Gov. Daniel P. Malloy (D), workers who care for those with intellectual disabilities at group homes and day programs are to be paid an hourly minimum wage of at least $15.

Connecticut Bars Pay History Inquiries

Connecticut has enacted legislation (House Bill 5386) that will prohibit employers from asking applicants about their pay history. The law generally prohibits employers from inquiring about an applicant’s pay history, unless the prospective employee has voluntarily disclosed the information.

Connecticut Prohibits the Fluctuating Workweek Method of Calculating Overtime for Retail Employees
