OSHA Postpones Enforcement of New Electronic Recordkeeping Rule Pertaining to Employee Injury and Illness Reporting Policies and Issues Guidance on Incentive, Disciplinary and Drug-Testing Programs

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (“OSHA”) has agreed to further postpone enforcement of its new final rule, Improve Tracking of Workplace Injuries and Illnesses, until December 1, 2016. The agency also issued guidance explaining its position on incentive, disciplinary, and drug-testing programs.

Labor Department Issues Final Rule Implementing Executive Order on Government Contractor Paid Sick Leave

The U.S. Department of Labor has released final regulations implementing President Barack Obama’s Executive Order, requiring up to seven days of paid sick leave for workers on federal contracts.

Accelerated Timetable for Proposed Overtime Rule - Tools and Resources Available to Clients

Multiple sources have reported that United States Department of Labor (USDOL) recently sent the proposed overtime rule to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for its mandatory review. While the actual release date and the corresponding effective date for the regulations are unknown, most experts agree that the effective date will likely be 60 days from the release date.

Zika Virus Concerns in the Workplace

The mosquito-borne Zika virus has the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) declaring public health emergencies and putting employers’ attention on how to respond.

EEOC Proposes to Collect Pay Data and Hours from Employers

Proposed changes to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s (EEOC) EEO-1 report would have employers with at least 100 employees submitting all employees’ W-2 earnings data and actual hours worked beginning with the 2017 EEO-1 reporting cycle.
