The Georgia state poster has been updated to reflect changes in the Workers' Compensation Bill of Rights.
Effective July 1, 2017, large employers in Georgia that pay sick leave to their employees—or choose to do so in the future—must allow their employees to use paid sick leave to care for their “immediate family members.”
The Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) has issued an emergency rule requiring employers to file partial unemployment claims online on behalf of their employees who are temporarily laid off or whose hours have been temporarily reduced because of a lack of work due to coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19).
Georgia has enacted legislation (Senate Bill 408) that extends rules governing employers that provide sick leave to employees and amends unemployment benefit rules. Senate Bill 408 took effect on June 29, 2020.
Georgia has enacted legislation (House Bill 1090) that requires employers to provide reasonable break time to employees who wish to express breast milk at the worksite. House Bill 1090 is effective immediately.
Georgia has enacted legislation (Senate Bill 443) that limits the maximum garnishment for private student loans. Senate Bill 443 takes effect January 1, 2021.
