Enhancements Made to TotalChoice Voluntary Benefits Program

Over the past few months ADP TotalSource® and Mercer Health & Benefits LLC have worked diligently to deliver a more comprehensive voluntary benefits program to you and your worksite employees. Recently, we enhanced the TotalChoice™ Voluntary Benefits program by making it easier for employees to access the TotalChoice enrollment system, consolidating carriers, designing a dedicated resource page, and partnering with MetLife to add new enhanced benefits.

Supreme Court Rule May Help Establish Pregnancy Discrimination

In a 6-3 decision, in the matter of Young v. United Parcel Service, Inc., the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that if an employer accommodates some employees with disabilities, the failure to offer that same accommodation to an employee with a pregnancy related job restriction might be sufficient proof that the failure to accommodate was motivated by discrimination.

Supreme Court Ruling Validates DOL’s 2010 Interpretation of the APA

The U.S. Supreme Court has held that the U.S. Department of Labor (“DOL”) did not violate the Administrative Procedure Act (“APA”) when it failed to provide the public with notice and an opportunity to comment before it changes its position on the application of the Fair Labor Standards Act’s administrative exemption to loan officers, finding them newly non-exempt.

San Francisco Raises Minimum Wage

New Seattle Minimum Wage and Wage Theft Ordinances

Two new Seattle ordinances imposing significant workplace changes on employers with employees in the City took effect on April 1, 2015. The highly anticipated and much-discussed Seattle Minimum Wage Ordinance (SMC Ch. 14.19) increases the minimum wage for all employees who perform work within Seattle’s geographic boundaries.

Change in Reporting of Hours in D.C.
